Westgate Lofts consists of two buildings located next to one another which have both been transformed from warehouses to lofts. Both buildings are about 100 years old. The first (Phase I) is a converted warehouse built in 1909. The other is a historical building that once housed the first-ever Deseret Industries in Salt Lake City. Together, the two buildings house 71 individual condos that range in size from studios to 3-bedroom lofts. Phase 1 offers top-floor penthouses with private balconies and awesome views of downtown Salt Lake City, the Wasatch Mountains, and the entire Salt Lake Valley. The 100-year old elevator shaft in Phase I has been retained and renovated like an old mine shaft with glass sides. Brick walls, old window frames, exposed ductwork and wood/concrete floors add to the vintage warehouse feel of the development.
