In 2001, two warehouses on Pierpont Avenue that were originally occupied by Kimball Electronics were converted to 49 residential, loft- style condos. Pierpont lofts are characterized by two unique courtyards, high ceilings, and original wood floors at ceilings. The project is made up of many different floor plans. Some are a single level, and others are two and three levels. Eleven of the condos in the east building have huge basements accessed by a trapdoor style entry in the floor of each unit. Units in the west building also have large storage units in a common basement. Condos along the back and north side of the buildings have private entrances along what was originally a loading dock for a train running behind the buildings in Salt Lake’s warehouse district. A secure, uncovered parking lot is located just to the west of Pierpont Lofts. Not all units have dedicated parking stalls in this lot. Some have on-street neighborhood parking passes, and others have no parking. There is a parking lot to the east of the lofts that rents parking stalls on a per month basis.
