Parking Lot Site Becomes Madeleine Apartments

Pending a review from the Historic Landmarks Commission, the property at 338 East South Temple will become home to a new apartment complex called the Madeleine Apartments. A vacant parking lot currently occupies the .55 acre lot located along Salt Lake’s South Temple historic district.

Lotus Equities is presenting the plan for a 110-unit residential complex with the units ranging from 680 square foot, one bedroom to 1000 square foot, two bedroom apartments. The residential accommodation will consist of five floors above ground and two floors below for parking. As with the current vacant parking lot, developers will set the structure back from South Temple Street to align with the adjacent buildings.

The plan for the façade of the new complex is to construct a symmetrical structure around an asymmetrical central bay for the building’s stairway. The east and west facades will include paired windows and a balcony. The proposed materials for the façade and parking levels are red brick veneer and cream stucco above a stone clad first floor.

Currently there is not a set start and completion date. The developers and architects are currently meeting with the Salt Lake Historic Landmarks Commission to determine if the structure will be constructed as planned or if the developers need to change any of the designs.
