Huge, white tents now cover the usually vacant parking lot on the corner of 300 w and 200 s. Around this time every fall the Greek Orthodox Church prepares the space for 50,000 or so visitors to it's annual Greek Festival. This year, the four day event will be held September 10-13. Every year the church sets aside funds from the festival to support charities within the community, so stop by for some great food and dancing. OPA!

Salt Lake Valley Health Department is holding a community collection event, making for the perfect opportunity today to clean out your garage, basement, and medicine cabinet. They are collecting hazardous materials for proper disposal at Sugar House Park. You can bring any materials that should not be disposed of in the trash: antifreeze, batteries, flourescent light tubes, fuels, gasoline, oil, paint, pesticides, transmission fluid, yard care chemicals, and other chemicals. Also, Salt Lake City police will be on site to collect unwanted and expired prescription medication or over-the-counter drugs for incineration.
